Lamb Pie With Chili Sauce

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh ground ground lamb
  • 2 ounces favourite brandy
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 scallions, diced
  • 1 boiled drained and diced into cubes potato
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 sweet red peppers or 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 5 canned tomatoes, with some juice
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed

Recipe

  • 1 sauce: add all the ingredients listed for sauce into a pot, and simmer over med.
  • 2 to low heat for 2 hours.
  • 3 serve this with the pie on the side.
  • 4 filling for lamb pie; place the lamb and brandy into a bowl and marinate for two hours.
  • 5 saute the garlic in oil with the gren onions.
  • 6 add the marinated lamb and start to brown.
  • 7 drain as much fat as possible off.
  • 8 add the seasonings and cook for ten minutes.
  • 9 add the small cubes of boiled potato and mix well.
  • 10 pour into a favourite uncooked pie shell, top with a top crust.
  • 11 brush with egg beaten with 1 tsp.
  • 12 water.
  • 13 bake 425 degrees for 5 minutes.
  • 14 reduce oven to 350 degrees, bake 30 minutes.
  • 15 note-- i have mashed the potato instead in my recipe, so it would not be as noticeable.
  • 16 this potato in the recipe acts as the thickener.
