Lamb And Sauerkraut A La Budapest

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 lbs lamb, 1 inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 12 ounces beer
  • 2 (16 ounce) jars sauerkraut
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter and sauté onions until translucent (5 minutes).
  • 2 add lamb;sprinkle with salt and brown slowly, stirring constantly.
  • 3 sprinkle with paprika and caraway seeds.
  • 4 add beer; cover and simmer 45 minutes.
  • 5 stir in sauerkraut; simmer 15 minutes.
  • 6 add sour cream just to heat.
  • 7 serve with rye bread and beer.
