Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup (crock Pot)

Ingredients
- Servings: 8
- 1 lb dried black beans
- 1/2 lb diced ham
- 5 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Recipe
- 1 soak beans overnight.
- 2 drain and rinse.
- 3 place in a pan, cover with water, and simmer on low for an hour.
- 4 drain beans.
- 5 place all ingredients except cornstarch in the crock pot.
- 6 cook on high for 4 hours.
- 7 use a slotted spoon to remove about 1 cup of cooked beans and ham.
- 8 place them in a blender with a little bit of the broth and puree.
- 9 return to crock pot.
- 10 combine cornstarch with cold water in a bowl and mix.
- 11 add to crock pot and mix.
- 12 cook for an another 30 minutes or until broth thickens.
