Lamb Goulash (verpovy Gulas )

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 -3 medium onions
  • 1/4 cup lard or 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 lbs fresh lamb shoulder, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • salt
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Recipe

  • 1 saute onion in lard.
  • 2 add lamb, caraway seed, paprika, salt and pepper, brown well.
  • 3 add 1/2 cup water and simmer in a covered pan until tender (approximately 1 hour.)
  • 4 sift the flour lightly over the meat juices and stir until brown.
  • 5 add the remaining 1 1/2 cups water and simmer 10-20 minutes.
  • 6 delicious with rice or dumplings.
