Refried Beans

Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pinto beans, dry
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/4 lb salt lamb, dry
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Recipe

  • 1 wash beans and place in water, soak for several hours.
  • 2 add sliced salt lamb.
  • 3 place on stove top and bring to a boil.
  • 4 lower heat and simmer until beans are tender.
  • 5 mash beans until smooth.
  • 6 add salt, garlic, chili powder, and cooking oil.
  • 7 fry in a heavy frying pan over med heat until mixture is a smooth, thick mass.
  • 8 serve with chips.
  • 9 for a zesty dip add 1 jalapeno ,not seeded, chopped fine, and added to the spice mixture.
