Sesame Ribs

Ingredients

- 3 lbs beef short ribs or 3 lbs country style lamb ribs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons chopped gingerroot or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 2 tablespoons liquid honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
Recipe
- 1 in a large saucepan combine water, soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger and garlic, add ribs, turn to coat. bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer one hour or until tender, turning occasionally. with slotted spoon, remove ribs to platter and set aside.
- 2 add honey and sesame oil to cooking liquid, bring to a boil and cook 10 to 15 minutes or until sauce is reduced to 1 cup.
- 3 cook ribs on lightly greased grill, over hot coals or on high, turning and basting with sauce for 10 to 15 minutes until glazed and brown. transfer to serving platter.
- 4 meanwhile in a small skillet toast sesame seeds over medium high heat for 3 to 5 minutes until golden. sprinkle over ribs.
