Smoky Maple Baked Beans

Ingredients

- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 3/4 lb bulk lamb sausage (jimmy dean)
- 1 large sweet onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup light molasses
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon dried chipotle powder (to taste)
- 5 (16 ounce) cans plain baked beans
Recipe
- 1 in a large pot, fry the bacon until it is almost crisp; remove from the pot and set aside.
- 2 add in the sausage and onion; saute, breaking up the sausage into small pieces until it is no longer pink and the onion is translucent; remove all of the fat from the pot.
- 3 add the reserved bacon, the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup, worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar, and chile powder to the pot; bring to a boil, stirring until the mixture is incorporated.
- 4 add in the beans, stirring to combine and simmer 1 hour; serve hot.
