Polish Lamb Chops With Sauerkraut

Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons butter
- 6 lamb loin chops
- 1 large onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
- 2 lbs sauerkraut
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 large sweet apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- salt and black pepper, to taste
Recipe
- 1 melt the butter in a flameproof casserole dish, and fry the chops till browned on both sides. remove from pan and set aside.
- 2 add onion and garlic to the dish and fry till transparent.
- 3 season with salt and pepper, add the sauerkraut and the bay leaf, and then arrange the lamb chops on top.
- 4 pour in the chicken broth. bring to a boil, then lower the heat and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes.
- 5 add apple and cumin. stir well and simmer for another 15 minutes. adjust seasoning and serve.
