Polish Lamb Chops With Sauerkraut

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 lamb loin chops
  • 1 large onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
  • 2 lbs sauerkraut
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 large sweet apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • salt and black pepper, to taste

Recipe

  • 1 melt the butter in a flameproof casserole dish, and fry the chops till browned on both sides. remove from pan and set aside.
  • 2 add onion and garlic to the dish and fry till transparent.
  • 3 season with salt and pepper, add the sauerkraut and the bay leaf, and then arrange the lamb chops on top.
  • 4 pour in the chicken broth. bring to a boil, then lower the heat and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • 5 add apple and cumin. stir well and simmer for another 15 minutes. adjust seasoning and serve.
