Savory Sausages

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 lbs sausages
  • cold water, to cover
  • 3 onions, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup consomme or 1 cup tomato juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon savory

Recipe

  • 1 place sausages in a cold frying pan.
  • 2 cover with cold water.
  • 3 bring to a boil.
  • 4 drain sausages.
  • 5 fry the sausages over medium heat for 5-8 minutes.
  • 6 remove sausages.
  • 7 add onions, 1 tbsp water and sugar.
  • 8 brown onions lightly.
  • 9 sprinkle with flour.
  • 10 cook for 1 minute more.
  • 11 add the liquid and add savory.
  • 12 bring to boil until thickened.
  • 13 serve with mashed potatoes.
  • 14 return sausages and heat together.
